Tools for Self Reliance works with its partners in northern Ghana to get people out of poverty and into work. Our partners are non-governmental organisations with a successful record of working with local communities. Here are a few of them.
Girls Growth and Development
Girls Growth and Development is a non-governmental organisation based in Jisonayili, Tamale. It was founded in 1998 to provide sustainable livelihood development to deprived rural communities and underprivileged girls and young women.
Trax
The rise in youth unemployment and poverty in rural communities in northern Ghana is being addressed by our partner Trax Ghana. Trax works with small-scale farmers to develop and support alternative sources of income generation.
Northern Sector Action on Awareness Centre
The Northern Sector Action on Awareness Centre was founded in 2002 to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. Today it works to improve the lives of all marginalised groups in the north.
Simli Aid
Simli Aid enhances the status of women and young people through a combination of training, drama, advocacy and campaigning. It operates in five districts in northern Ghana.
Dalun Simli Centre
Established more than 30 years ago, the Dalun Simli Centre runs an integrated community development programme providing skills training via taught courses and a community radio station.
Basic Needs
Stigmatised by Ghanaian society, thousands of people with mental illness are left to fend for themselves. Basic Needs is a UK based organisation that works on their behalf to challenge prejudice and discrimination.
