Tool sale provides a boost

We received a real boost over the weekend from our sale of surplus tools – raising a fantastic £1,290.

Chief Executive Sarah Ingleby was delighted with the results, and extends warm thanks to everyone who came along to support us:

“For over 30 years Tools for Self Reliance has been fortunate to receive thousands of tools donated by the public; and these tools have made a real difference to the trades men and women we are working with in Africa. Inevitably there are some tools which are not suitable to send, and holding our own tool sale was a way not only to clear our excess stock, but also an important way for us to boost our funds.

The £1,290 raised will help us to support the cost of delivering practical and business training which will enable people to find employment or start their own businesses, as well as the cost of shipping the tools these people need for their work. This year alone we have already sent over 21,000 tools and plan to send at least another 6,000 before the end of the year.

This was a one off sale and we will not be selling tools from our site in Netley Marsh at any other time, but I would like to thank all those people who came along this weekend and supported our event.”
