World AIDS Day 2009: Apoolo Na Angor

This is an archived news story, written on: December 1, 2009

Tuesday 1 December is World AIDS Day. We support many groups and individuals in Africa who live with HIV/AIDS, many struggling to bring up families on their own and against all odds. Through training and tools our partners in Africa like Apoolo Na Angor in Uganda can lighten their load.

We are paying for a teacher to train twenty young women in sewing and tailoring. With the skills they learn these women will be able to earn a living and make the kind of choices that many of us all too easily take for granted.

Across Africa we work in small ways like this to make a lasting difference. For the women of Apoolo Na Angor, who now have access to training and sewing machines supplied by Tools for Self Reliance, the struggle has become a little easier.
