Streets paved with gold

This is an archived news story, written on: July 22, 2009

Congratulations to four members of the Rotary Club of Tower Hamlets, Tony sharma, Jegtar Singh Padam, Lydia Sprake and Hasib Howlader, for successfully completing the Asics British 10K Run on 12 July to raise money for Tools for Self Reliance.

Sporting bright yellow running vests there was no mistaking the fearless foursome as they pounded the streets of London.

Victorious and still smiling – from L to R: Jektar, Tony, Hasib and Lydia

Tony and the team have already raised hundreds of pounds to help artisans in Africa, for whom the training and tools that we supply provide a vital income and a route out of poverty.

And what of our runners? Here’s Lydia’s take on it:

It was fun and a certain a sense of achievement – I didn’t think I could ever run all the way! We all did well though so it was really great.

There’s still time to sponsor Tony, Lydia and Jegtar online. Just click on one of the links below.
