Shipment News
Last month was a busy one for the staff and volunteers at Tools for Self Reliance as hard work up and down the country enabled us to cram in two shipments of tools which are now well on their way to helping artisan groups in Ghana and Uganda.
The shipment to Uganda contained half a container load of unrefurbished tools destined for the newly renovated refurbishing centre in Kagadi. Refurbishing equipment, both from the workshops at Netley Marsh and new equipment bought with special funding, was also packed up and sent to the centre to enable Kagadi staff and trainees to get underway with the delivery containing thousands of tools.
We also sent two pallets of tools as part of a collaborative effort with the Romsey-Kasese Link, a charitable organisation set up by the Deanery of Romsey. Tools for Self Reliance is working with them on a special project supporting carpentry and sewing workshops in Kasese and Kilembe, both in the Kasese region of Uganda.
The next shipment is due to be sent to Tanzania in early September.
