Further Africa visits for Tools for Self Reliance’s Intrepid Partnership Development Officer

This is an archived news story, written on: April 18, 2007

The first visit, which takes place from the 25th April to the 16th May, will see Partnership Development Officer Sarah Ingleby and Group Support Manager Rob Westcott travelling to three different regions in Tanzania in order to evaluate the past year’s tools and skills training programme. Our partners in Tanzania, the Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) will be welcoming Rob and Sarah to centres in Tabora, Kilimanjaro, and Arusha. The visit will also mark an historic occasion in Tools for Self Reliance’s association with our original partners as for the first time there will be a meeting attended by all the technical directors from all regions to discuss the partnership and its future direction.

With barely a week to catch up on partnership matters in the UK, Sarah is to head off again on the 25th May to Uganda, this time accompanied by Volunteer and Workshop Manager Jon Dunkley. During their for a sixteen day visit the pair will meet up with representatives from the Ugandan Rural Development and Training Centre (URDT) and the Network of Local Artisans (NOLA). Jon is particularly keen to discuss plans for the new URDT reburbishment workshop.
