Ngabi Youth Group Expands and Brings Employment Opportunities to a Ugandan Village
The well-established Ngabi Youth Group started in 1989 with 150,000 Ugandan shillings and has built up its capital to 2.2 million Ugandan shillings, or £6400.
Because of income from the group’s activities, individual members have been able to build houses and buy land. Kiiza Charles opened up a retail shop for his wife and the group has extended activities to a workshop in Hoima in order to take advantage of easy access to the power supply and the market. The group has now trained 10 young people and the whole community benefits from the availability of quality products at reasonable prices. Ngabi Youth Group’s high quality work and professional skills have helped them to win two contracts; one in Burora and another in Hoima. These have created twenty new job opportunities within the village.
